First Community Engagement Event!

4 October 2025

On October 4th, graduate students in urban, city, and regional planning from Texas A&M University, Texas Target Communities (TTC), and the Town of Pine Island will conduct their first community engagement event! Students will conduct short pop-up engagement questionnaires to gain insights into the community's vision for the future of Pine Island. Temporary set-ups will be throughout several locations:

  • Waller County Fairgrounds:
    • Located at 21988 FM359, Hempstead, TX 77445
    • From 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm
  • The John Fairey Garden Conservation Foundation:
    • Located at 20559 FM359, Hempstead, TX 77445
    • From 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm

St. Katharine Drexel Annual Bazaar Engagement Event - Hispanic Community Outreach Event

19 October 2025

On Sunday, October 19th, 2025, graduate students in the Urban Planning program at Texas A&M University will conduct their second Pine Island community engagement event at the St. Katharine Drexel Annual Bazaar, from 11 AM to 6 PM.

This event looks to engage with the Hispanic community that calls Pine Island home through surveys, bilingual outreach in English and Spanish.

Look out for our volunteers of Urban Planning graduate students coming in from Texas A&M University at College Station, Texas.

🇪🇸 Evento de Compromiso Comunitario en Pine Island

El domingo 19 de octubre de 2025, los estudiantes de posgrado del programa de Planeación Urbana de la Universidad Texas A&M llevarán a cabo su segundo evento de compromiso con la comunidad de Pine Island en el Bazar Anual de Santa Katharine Drexel, de 11 a.m. a 5 p.m.

Este evento busca interactuar con la comunidad hispana que reside en Pine Island a través de encuestas y difusión de información bilingüe en inglés y español.

¡Estén atentos y busquen a nuestros voluntarios, los estudiantes de posgrado de Planeación Urbana que vendrán desde la Universidad de Texas A&M en College Station, Texas!

Pine Island’s Third Community Engagement & World Cafe Events

8 November 2025

Summary of Event:

On Sunday, November 8th, 2025, graduates in urban planning at Texas A&M University will conduct their third community outreach at the Waller County Fairgrounds from 10 AM to 12 PM, and again from 6 PM to 8 PM. The engagement will consist of a presentation to the community done by graduate students, to inform the progress and survey results. Followed by a 45-minute engagement event split into three main topics, where community members will be sitting down and discussing their inputs about each topic:

  • Table 1: Preserving Our Rural Character
  • Table 2: Existing and Future Community Facilities
  • Table 3: Managing Growth & Economic Development
